As a teacher my goal is to prepare students for lifelong learning. Lifelong learning requires attention, discipline, and commitment.
Democracy depends on informed citizens who are aware of, and actively engaged in local and national developments. They should also know about international events. While I cannot predict what the world will look like ten, twenty, or one-hundred years from now, I’m sure that living a productive life in that world will require learning new information. Students need to appreciate the importance of staying informed about their professional field as well as the world around them.
